The script works by downloading the HP SCCM Driver Cabinet, extracting the XML, reading in the XML and doing some other bits in the background to display the full list of HP driver packages in an easy to read format. So I have removed the tabbed sections for models and MDT and replaced it with a single tab with a model listing determined by your OS selection, matching available driver packages within the HP driver XML. When updating the tool I changed a lot of the functions of the GUI, partly due to the fact that HP driver packages are bundled into 7×5 Gx formats but also due to the fact that I had no HP hardware to pull down using an the previous SCCM query.

So here is a heavily modified version of the tool for HP hardware. Once you've run the tool, the packages and drivers will be in SCCM, and you just need to update your task sequences to use the new packages, and distribute them.PLEASE NOTE: Some of the details and features in this post have been superseded. When you come to update the builds in a few months, delete everything before you run it. The only thing you need to know in advance (that doesn't seem to be documented anywhere), is that I always have to delete all the drivers in SCCM and the folders in Explorer before I run the tool, otherwise they just fail repeatedly.

It's easy enough to use, just plug in the details of your SCCM server before you do anything else, and run it as an account that has permissions to access SCCM. You can find it here, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I gave up using the HP Softpaq, or their integration tools with SCCM, and I use Maurice Daly's Driver Automation Tool every time I update the builds now. Using HP IA to create my own packages is a solution but it's time intensive. Why do the Dell driver packs work first time and the HP ones do not?ĭo the HP driver packages require some special treatment ? So what am I doing wrong, with the HP drivers packs ?

Currently I use HP IA (a great tool) to install all the required drivers, I then capture these and add these to SCCM which gives a 95% success rate. I have tried ticking the "Install driver package via DISM with recursion option" and that didn't work with my current 1909 work. Inevitably there will be drivers missing. I used to download the driver packs and imported the pack into SCCM creating a package for use in the build. As I write this HP now recommend using HPIA to create driver packs. The HP driver packages ( ) I have downloaded just don't work for me. And then the solution provided has little to do with their SCCM integrated product. let me say I would rather chew my own hand off than deal with HP support on these matters !!! There is next to none, and if you can get it it's only after many threats to move to another vendor. HP support for SCCM and the driver packs other the other hand. I do like HP Business and Enterprise grade hardware, its robust and doesn't look bad.

HP on the other hand has been a nightmare since I started working with SCCM. Download the driver pack form the Dell driver pack site, import to SCCM, and 99% I get a clean build first time. Since moving to Dell hardware, I feel a lot better about managing drivers for hardware.
